Google Expands AI-Powered Text-to-Video for Demand Gen Ads

Google Ads is now testing AI Text-to-Video Generation directly within the Demand Gen and Performance Max workflows—aimed at reducing the barrier for high-quality video creative.

Advertisers can input a short product description, choose a mood or tone (e.g., “inspirational,” “playful”), and Google’s AI will generate short video assets optimized for YouTube, Discover, and Gmail placements.

How it works:

  • Enter a product or service description (up to 300 characters)
  • Select tone, music type, and target audience
  • Get 3–5 video variations (6–15 seconds)
  • All assets auto-optimized for platform placements
  • Includes captions, call-to-action, and light branding

What else we know:

  • Customization: Edits allowed post-generation via the asset editor
  • Rollout: Gradual release to select advertisers with global expansion planned
  • AI source: Built on Gemini-powered video models
  • Brand control: Style guides & visual brand rules can be applied for consistency

Why it matters: More brands can now scale video creation without extra production budgets.
